Coalition of Black Trade Unionist Scholarship Program (CBTU) Delaware
Scholarship Overview: Must be graduating high school senior, a child or grandchild of a dues-paying Delaware union member or retired. Accepted into an accredited four-year full-time program or accredited two-year institution that will transfer to a four-year institution. The scholarship may be used for any field of study or used for any Delaware Construction Building Trades Apprenticeship Program.

Delaware Chapter of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionist Scholarship Program (CBTU) was developed to make scholarships available to children and grandchildren of full dues paying or retired Delaware Union members along with applicants entering a Delaware Construction & Building Trades Apprenticeship Program.
Three (3) scholarships of $1,000.00 each presented to awardees, one (1) female and one (1) male will be selected from applicants who meet the eligibility requirements for graduating high school seniors, living in the State of Delaware.
The scholarships will be awarded at the 2025 Solidarity Ball on Saturday June 7, 2025.
To be eligible for the Apprenticeship Scholarship the applicant must:
- Already be accepted into any Delaware Construction Building Trades Apprenticeship Program.
- Obtain a letter of reference from a full dues paying or retired Union member of the Delaware Construction Building Trades.
Application is available at the union hall or via email: cbtudelaware1@gmail.com and must be requested by parent, legal guardian or grandparent who are currently full dues paying or retired union members.

Application Requirements: Delaware Residents Only, Essay, SAT/ACT Score Report
Essay Details:
Essay: “How the benefits and advantages of having a Union member in my family has impacted me and my community.” Must be typed 500-1000 words.

The scholarships will be awarded at the annual Solidarity Ball on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Event will be held at the Executive Banquet & Conference Center, 205 Executive Drive, Newark, DE 19702
