Scholarship Overview: Merit scholarship for high school seniors attending an accredited institution full time in an undergraduate program

Scholarship Details:

A merit scholarship for high school seniors attending a public or private Delaware high school and display academic excellence.   This scholarship can be sent to any accredited institution (in and out of state).

Eligibility Requirements:

• Open to high school seniors with strong academic records (minimum 3.0 GPA and SAT score of at least 1290 or ACT equivalent)
• Applicants must enroll full time at any regionally accredited college
• Delaware resident for at least 12 consecutive months immediately prior to the application deadline.

Application Requirements:

• Apply online at Delaware Higher Education Financial Aid Portal
• The application will ask for anticipated 2026–2027 enrollment information (institution and major) as well as a list of student activities
• Student’s academic records (GPA/SAT) will be requested and collected during the review process
• FAFSA is not required
• Please Note – All application materials must be submitted by 4:30pm on 02/27/2026

Award Amount: $1,250

Award Details:

$1,250 per academic year.
Renewable for up to three additional years with a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Approximately 35 students are awarded this scholarship each year.

In order to apply for scholarships from the DHEO, you first need to Create your Student Account in the Delaware Higher Education Financial Aid Portal (https://higheredstudent.doe.k12.de.us/#registration)
Once you create your Student Account you will be able to apply for available scholarships through the online portal.

Helpful tip: The email address entered in the registration form will become your User ID. All notifications will be sent to this email address. Please make sure you use an active email address that you will check regularly. DO NOT USE your high school email address.
