The James and Nellie Dickerson Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Overview: Current Appoquinimink School District senior planning to attend college next fall.

Scholarship Details:
The James and Nellie Dickerson Scholarship Fund Committee is currently accepting applications. Our goal is to provide a $500 scholarship each year to a deserving high school graduating student and assist them in continuing their education at a college/university.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Current Appoquinimink School District graduating senior
- Planning to attend an accredited college next fall
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher, computed on a 4.0 system
- Must demonstrate a positive persona, maintain a solid academic history in their core classes, and participate in community involvement activities highlighted in their letters of recommendation.
Application Requirements:
- Completed application form, must be typed (application available here)
- Letter of application addressed to the Scholarship Committee. The letter should contain a brief explanation of career goals and biographical (background) information.
- Three (3) letters of recommendations from choice of high school teachers-at least one core teacher, administrators, or counselors, employers, or individuals with significant knowledge of applicant’s experience and involvement.
- An official and recent high school transcript with cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 or greater.
- Personal Essay
- Indicate leadership opportunities, community involvement, and participation in extracurricular activities.
- Small photograph

Award Amount: $500
Award Details:
$500 scholarship to a deserving high school graduating senior who intends to pursue a post-high school course of study at either a college, university, or other accredited post-secondary educational institution.
