Scholarship Overview: Scholarship for full-time graduate or undergraduate students attending a Delaware public or private college who intend to pursue a career in education (in a classroom or as a specialist) in specific certifications

Eligibility Requirements:
- Delaware resident for at least 12 consecutive months immediately before the application deadline.
- Full-time enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree program. *Part time enrollment in a graduate degree program will be eligible for a partial award.
- Must meet your institution’s Satisfactory Academic Policy
Must be studying a career in education (in a classroom or as a specialist) in specific certifications, listed below, identified as areas of need in Delaware schools.
Teacher Shortage Areas :

- Math
- Science
- Special Education (All Areas)
- Business Education
- Agriscience Education
- Family Consumer Science
- School Nurse
- Library Media Specialist
- English
- Immersion (Elementary/World language)

- Speech Language Pathologists
- School Psychologists
- School Social Workers
- School Counselors

- Complete online application by May 15, 2025
- File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid ( FAFSA ) prior to the application deadline

Award Amount: $5,000
Award Details:
Award amount is $5,000 per year. Graduate degree applicants enrolled part-time will be eligible for a partial award.
The award is not renewable but recipients can re-apply each year. Multiple awards are given each year and awards are contingent upon funding from the General Assembly and based on the size of the applicant pool.

In order to apply for scholarships from the DHEO, you first need to Create your Student Account in the Delaware Higher Education Financial Aid Portal (https://higheredstudent.doe.k12.de.us/#registration)
Once you create your Student Account you will be able to apply for available scholarships through the online portal.
Helpful tip: The email address entered in the registration form will become your User ID. All notifications will be sent to this email address. Please make sure you use an active email address that you will check regularly. DO NOT USE your high school email address.
