Scholarship Details:

The Fresh Start Scholarship Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce the continuation of the Fresh Start Scholarship. Our scholarship is specifically designed for women who have interrupted their education for various reasons and now seek to return to school to better their opportunities.  Since its inception in 1996, the foundation has awarded over $1.72 million in scholarships to more than 325 women who have been given the opportunity to achieve their goals.   We award annual scholarships based on need and provide mentoring support.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be female
  • Be a U.S. citizen or a Permanent Resident
  • Be a resident of Delaware, or be currently employed in Delaware for at least the past 12 months
  • Be at least 20 years of age and have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Be admitted to an accredited Delaware college in a 2 or 4-year undergraduate degree program at the undergraduate level at an accredited Delaware college or university.
  • Have had a 2-year break in education after attending high school or during postsecondary studies
    • Those who previously earned a bachelor’s degree are not eligible.
  • Have financial need
  • No age limit!

Application Requirements: Application will be available in March 2026!

  • Acquire a recommendation from an employer, college representative, or a non-profit or government agency.
  • Financial and income information will be requested in the application
  • Fill out all areas of the ONLINE application completely, and submit before the deadline.
  • Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted

Award Details:

The Fresh Start Scholarship Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors, based upon the applications received, will make all decisions regarding the recipients and the amounts of the awards.

All applicants will be notified on or before July 31, 2026.

Funds are sent directly to your college and students can reapply every year.
