Scholarship Details:

St. Martha’s Episcopal Church Scholarship (SMEC) Application: Complete the digital template application  form attached with the requirements below

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Must have graduated from Indian River High School
  2. Must attend one of the following colleges this fall: Beebe School of Nursing Lewes, DelTech Owens Campus, DSU Owens/Wesley College Dover, Salisbury University, or U of Delaware at Lewes/Newark Campuses.

Application Requirements:

  1. Completed Application – Click here for application.
  2. Indian River High School transcript with GPA that is signed by a school counselor
  3. A copy of the acceptance/enrollment letter from Beebe School of Nursing Lewes, DelTech Owens Campus, DSU Owens/Wesley College Dover, Salisbury University, or U of Delaware at Lewes/Newark Campuses.
  4.  A copy of FAFSA SAR, Pell, Others, and/or  consolidated college financial aid package
  5. A letter of recommendation from a college advisor, director, past faculty member, IRHS school counselor, or past faculty member.
  6. Personal and Financial Need One-page Statements Essays, and any Extracurricular and Community Activities and outside employment while in IRHS or college.

Essay Details:

1. Personal Statement Essay: Please answer the following question below, in essay form, and explain/support your response: Who (other than a family member) or what has influenced you to select your field of study and why it is important to attend college in order make a difference in your life and society.
2. Financial Assistance: You are applying for an academic scholarship to help with the cost of higher education. Describe below in essay form how the financial support (if provided by an SMEC scholarship would help you with your college expenses without college or private loans.

Award Amount: $5,000
Award Details:

Each need-based student enrolled in a full-time college or higher educational institution for academic course requirements will be assessed on our digital application with all financial aid awards applied, such as Pell, Seed, and other federal, state, and college awards applied in order to determine the financial gap award so student do not have to take out college loans for going to college. Our program offers multiple awards from $750 to $5,000, distributed each academic year to your college account for applying to your tuition and fees.
