Diamond State Pearls, Incorporated (“DSPI”) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and works in conjunction with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® of the Newark, Delaware chapter (Sigma Zeta Omega). DSPI is pleased to offer multiple scholarships in honor of the accomplishments of instrumental women affiliated with Sigma Zeta Omega Chapter.
Sylvia R.W. Roberts is a member of Sigma Zeta Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and is an advocate for education whose desire is to assist those who seek to further their education and may have had some challenges that prevented a 4.0 GPA.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a student wishing to attend a HBCU
- Must have good attendance and an excellent behavior record
- Must have a GPA of 2.0 or above
- Must already be accepted to an accredited four-year college or university
Scholarship Process:
- Complete Application. It is imperative that the application be completed in full.
- One Reference Letter. Your letter should accompany your application. Be certain the letter contains the writer’s contact information for verification.
- Essay. An essay from the applicant explaining why they should be selected as a scholarship recipient.
- Proof of college acceptance or current student enrollment. A letter of college acceptance or program acceptance is required for receipt of funds.
- Most recent high school transcript (unofficial will be accepted).
- Please submit a recent photo(preferably graduation pic or headshot) at the time of submission for use on our social media platforms. If you do not want your picture posted, let us know as this is not a requirement of the scholarship.

DSPI is pleased to offer multiple scholarships in honor of the accomplishments of instrumental woman affiliated with Sigma Zeta Omega Chapter. Range of scholarship awards. Scholarship awards may be less than $1,000 and some may exceed $1,000.

SCHOLARSHIP SUBMISSION PROCESS
1. Completed applications that meet the criteria must be mailed, if not submitted electronically to Diamond State Pearls, Inc., Attn: Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 10682, Wilmington, DE 19850 and postmarked by April 15, 2024 (no exceptions).
2. Applicants will be notified if they are selected.
