Scholarship Overview: Asian and Pacific Islander American students who will be enrolling or are currently enrolled in a college or university as a degree-seeking undergraduate student

The Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI) Scholarship Program is a collaboration with AANAPISIs and the communities they serve to provide scholarships, expand institutional capacity, and mobilize local resources to help foster economic development. The AANAPISI Scholarship is available annually to students attending APIA Scholars AANAPISI partner campuses.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be able to describe your ethnicity, heritage, or ancestry in relation to the countries, territories, or lands in Asia or the Pacific Islands
- Be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States. Citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau are also eligible to apply.
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate degree-seeking program, at one of APIA Scholars AANAPISI Partner Institutions, during the 2024 Fall Semester. Part time students are now eligible to apply.

Applicants do not necessarily need to have received federal financial aid to be eligible for a scholarship from APIA Scholars. Go to fafsa.gov for more information.
Application Requirements:

- You have the option to write 3 essay response OR 2 essay responses and have a recommendation letter submitted. Recommendation letters are due a MONTH before the application deadline
Selection Criteria:
APIA Scholars seeks to provide scholarships to underserved APIA students, with a special focus on individuals who:
- Are living at or below the poverty level, or are otherwise of low socioeconomic status
- Are the first in their family to attend college
- Represent the diversity geographically and ethnically of the APIA community, especially those who have historically and currently been underrepresented on college campuses
- Have demonstrated commitment to their community through leadership and service

Essay Details:
You have the option to write 3 essay response OR 2 essay responses and have a recommendation letter submitted. Recommendation letters are due a MONTH before the application deadline! You have your choice of 4 essay prompts for your 2 or 3 essay responses. This is where you truly get to tell us who you are, what is important to you, and how you see yourself and the world.
• Option 1: Tell us about a leadership role you took on. How did it go? What makes a good leader and how could you improve your leadership skills?
• Option 2: How has your identity as an Asian American, Native Hawaiian and/or Pacific Islander impacted you? How does this identity interact with your other identities?
• Option 3: How do you define success for yourself, what goals do you have, and what do you need to achieve success?
• Option 4: What does community mean to you, who is part of yours? How have you supported and been supported by your community?
Award Amount: $20,000
Award Details:
Scholarship awards range from onetime $2,500 awards to multi-year $20,000 awards.

The AANAPISI Scholarship Program application must be completed online and submitted electronically once all of the required questions have been answered. You do not have to complete the online application in one sitting. Until you are ready to submit, you may access your application and edit your answers as many times as you like with your login from any computer with internet access.
