Scholarship Overview: Hispanic high school seniors who will attend college, university or trade school next fall

Scholarship Details:

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Delaware high school senior
2. Be at least 50% of Hispanic origin, defined as those persons who have at least one parent of Hispanic/Latino heritage
3. Will attend an accredited college, university or trade school next fall.
4. Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
5. Have financial need
6. Community Service

Application Requirements:

1. After Completing the Online Application you need to provide additional materials to support your application. These should be sent via email to latincenterscholarships@gmail.com. Required supplementary materials include:
   1. A resume detailing your academic and extracurricular achievements.
   2. A personal statement that gives insight into your aspirations and how the scholarship would impact your future.
   3. Your most recent transcript to verify your academic performance.
   4. 2 letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to your character and accomplishments.
   5. Documentation of your community service efforts, highlighting your contributions and engagement.
   6. Proof of financial eligibility, demonstrating your need for financial assistance If awarded the scholarship, must provide verification of enrollment in accredited college, university or trade school.
2. Selected Semi-finalists will have to take part in an interview

Application Requirements: Delaware Residents Only, Essay, Letter(s) of Recommendation, Minimum GPA, Resume, Transcript

Essay Details:

All applicants must complete a personal statement as part of their scholarship application. The personal statement gives the applicant the opportunity to share their personal stories, and explain how receiving the scholarship funds will positively impact their academic or vocational futures. Personal statements must be at least 500 words and follow proper grammar, spelling and sentence structure.

Award Amount: $5,000

Award Details:

Award recipients of the Minerva Marrero Hispanic Scholarship Program will receive funds that are aimed to help finance their college, university or trade school tuition. Scholarships will be awarded based on three tiers. Tier 1 recipients will be awarded $5,000 Tier 2 recipients will receive $3,000 and Tier 3 recipients will receive $2,000. Recipients are selected based on their academic achievement, community involvement and financial need.
If awarded the scholarship, must provide verification of enrollment in accredited college, university or trade school.
