Scholarship Details:
The Tech Council of Delaware has partnered with Amazon for the Future Engineer Scholarship program which provides students with an opportunity to upgrade their careers with up to $40,000 in scholarships and an offer to complete a paid summer internship at Amazon.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Employment Authorized to work in the United States.
- Be a high school senior in the U.S. who is currently enrolled in or who has completed a high school or college dual degree course where computer science, engineering, or robotics is the subject. Students who have not taken this course can opt-in to take an assessment offered by Amazon.
- Be planning to attain a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, or other computer science related field of study from an accredited 4-year college or from a 2-year college with the intent to transfer to a 4-year college.
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.3 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
- Must show financial need.
Application Requirements:
- Completed online application through Scholarship America’s application system.
- Recommendation from an educator (computer science, robotics, or hardware engineering teacher, preferred, if you have one, or a teacher who knows you well)
- Short essays
- Transcript
- Parent’s/Guardian’s 1040 tax document
Criteria for Selection: We use a holistic selection process that considers numerous criteria and materials you provide to choose 400 different winners all across the nation. This includes things like:
- How you do in the classroom, primarily based on GPA
- Engineering experience – For example, after-school clubs, competitions, self-taught learning, hackathons and more
- Work experience
- Short answer responses
- Financial need – Usually based on household income
- Racial, ethnic and gender diversity
When you submit your application, we’ll look at all these areas to get a full picture of your fit for this scholarship.

Award Amount: $40,000
Award Details:
If your financial aid package shows that you have an unmet need of $9,000 per year, the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship will give you $9,000. However, if your unmet need is more than $10,000, you will receive the maximum amount of $10,000 per year. In simple terms, we will cover your unmet financial need, up to a maximum of $10,000 annually.
Awards are renewable for up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon the applicant continuing full-time enrollment at an accredited college or university, and maintaining a good standing with their university.
