DSU-CAST 1890 Scholarship Program
Scholarship Overview: Graduating seniors who will pursue a bachelor’s degree at DSU in agriculture, natural resources, food science, dietetics, textiles, and related majors (i.e., business, finance, IT/computer science)

Scholarship Details:
The DSU-CAST 1890 Scholarship Program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and is intended to encourage outstanding students at 1890 land grant institutions to pursue and complete baccalaureate degrees in the food and agricultural sciences and related fields that would lead to a highly skilled food and agricultural systems workforce. Each partial scholarship is $3,000 towards a student’s educational needs per semester at Delaware State University and is renewable contingent upon funding and meeting re-award requirements.
High School applicant’s eligibility requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Have applied for or have been accepted for admission to DSU.
- Have a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate with a high school grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.2 unweighted (on a 4.0 scale).
- Seek to study agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or other related disciplines.
- Demonstrate leadership and community service.

Essay Details:
Submit a 500-800 word essay on one of the following topics:
• My interest in pursuing a career in agriculture, natural resources, textiles, or food and nutrition.
• How I envision the scholarship will impact me personally and my future as a public servant.
• My experiences and perceptions about agriculture, food sciences, natural resources sciences, or other related disciplines related to agriculture.

Award Amount: $3,000
Award Details:
Scholarships must be used at Delaware State University. The partial scholarship amount is up to $3,000 depending on the student’s educational needs. Scholarship re-award is contingent upon funding, the scholar meeting all re-eligibility requirements, and satisfactory academic performance (SAP) towards the completion of a baccalaureate degree.
