Scholarship Overview: Any graduating senior or recent graduate of Delaware Indian River High School who will pursue a degree in education, behavioral science, healthcare, nursing, social services, medical techs, STEM, teaching and veterinary sciences

Scholarship Details:

St. Martha’s Scholarships are annual need-based multi-awards higher education awards from $500 to $5,000 per applicant. To qualify, you must be:

  1. US citizen living full-time in Sussex County, Delaware, within an Indian River High School (IRHS) District Area as a resident,
  2. Graduating senior or recent grad of Indian River High School,

Application Requirements:

  1. IRHS Official Transcript with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and school ranking,
  2. FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) includes grants (PELL, Aspire, others) and additional college and other scholarships for total financial awards.
  3. Two IRHS Letters of Recommendation from a counselor and or faculty members,
  4. One Personal Essay – one to two pages max,
  5. IRHS Activities and Clubs
  6. Optional Volunteer Experiences
  7. Optional Part-Time Work while in IRHS

Our scholarships are preferred for the following higher education institutions:

  • Beebe Healthcare Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing – Lewes Campus
  • Delaware Technical Community College – Owens Campus
  • Del Tech and Delaware State University Dual AS/BS Degrees – Georgetown Owens Campus
  • Salisbury University – Salisbury Campus (Sussex County Residents are allowed in-state tuition rates)
  • University of Delaware – Lewes and Newark Campuses

We prioritize students pursuing fields of study in:

  • Addiction Counselors, Healthcare, Lab, Medical, Occupational, PN, PT, and Others
  • Behavioral Science, Healthcare, Nursing, Social Services, and Social Work
  • Education and Teaching
  • STEM – extensive related disciplines
  • Veterinary Sciences

Application Requirements: Delaware Residents Only, Essay, Letter(s) of Recommendation, Minimum GPA, Transcript

Essay Details:

Write a personal statement essay of up to two pages to address the following:

A. Who influenced your choice of field of study and your college/university selection?
B. Why and how attending the college/university of your choice and field of study will be a life-changing experience in your life.

Award Amount: $5,000

Award Details:

Scholarship awards range from $500 to $5,000 per year for each student accepted in their college.
Multiple awards are provided each year.
All annual awards are based on financial last funds for the total cost of attending college for yearly tuition, books, fees, and other service fees after all Federal grants (PELL, others), Delaware (Aspire and others) and college award are applied to the student account to attend college.
All scholarship award checks are sent directly to your college for your student account. Traditional awards are sent out annually between early April and late May. Other off-cycle awards are sent in time before classes begin for the semester.
