The EESI Future Climate Leaders Scholarship awards merit-based scholarships to minority students planning a career related to environmental, energy, or climate issues. College sophomore or junior students attending an HBCU in the Mid-Atlantic or Southern Region are encouraged to apply. Special consideration is given to students majoring in biology, chemistry, ecology, engineering, environmental science or policy, history, physics, political science, and sociology.

Eligibility Requirements/1/

  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Resident of the U.S.
  • Attending selected HBCUs in the MidAtlantic or Southern Region (Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia)
  • College sophomore or junior
  • Seeking a bachelor’s degree
  • Fulltime student
  • Planning to pursue a career related to environmental, energy, or climate issues
  • U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident
  • Historically underserved population Preference is given to students pursuing a degree in biology, chemistry, ecology, engineering, environmental science or policy, history, physics, political science, and sociology.
