Scholarship Details:

Delaware Chapter of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionist Scholarship Program (CBTU) was developed to make scholarships available to children and grandchildren of full dues paying or retired Delaware Union members along with applicants entering a Delaware construction & building trades apprenticeship program.

Three (3) scholarships of $1,000.00 each presented to awardees, one (1) female and one (1) male will be selected from applicants who meet the eligibility requirements for graduating high school seniors, living in the State of Delaware.

The scholarships will be awarded at the 2024 Solidarity Ball on Saturday June 8, 2024.

To be eligible for a High School Scholarship the student must:

  1. Be a graduating high school senior who is a daughter, son, granddaughter, or grandson of a full dues-paying or retired Union member. The scholarship may be used for any field of study.
  2. At the time the scholarship is awarded, must be accepted into a full-time degree program either at an accredited four-year institution, or an accredited two-year institution that will transfer credits to a four-year institution.
  3. Have taken the SAT or the ACT.

Application is available at the union hall and must be requested by parent, legal guardian or grandparent who are currently full dues paying or retired union members.

Application Requirements: Delaware Residents Only, Essay, SAT/ACT Score Report

Essay Details:

Essay: “How the benefits and advantages of having a Union member in my family has impacted me and my community.” Must be typed 500-1000 words.

The scholarships will be awarded at the annual Solidarity Ball. Saturday, June 8, 2024.
