Delaware Cedar Foundation: Special Needs Scholarship
Scholarship Overview: Special needs seniors graders applying to college or trade school for the first time, or second-year students reapplying.

Scholarship Details:
This is a very broad-based special needs scholarship. It covers everything from neuromuscular disorders through attention deficit disorders through cellular disorders to children with physical disabilities and mental disabilities in Delaware.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a Delaware resident
- Must have a documented special need, including physical, mental, neurological, or developmental disabilities.
- Must be accepted at an Accredited Institution in an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, doctoral degree, technical or vocational program, etc.

- Essay
- Submit an official transcript (or high school grades), plus a college acceptance letter and student ID if entering your first year, along with your address and phone number. (If you have truble getting copies of your grade certified, send everything that you do have to the Delaware Cedar Foundation email address listed above with a note explaining why something was not submitted, when it will be submitted, and ask for an extension. Extensions may or may not be given depending on the number of applications received.)

Essay Details:
A five-hundred-word essay. There are three options; pick the one that best suits you and your needs and desires.
What one thing did you overcome that best shows your interest and your desires for the future?
Describe what you learned from living with your disability and how those lessons might prepare you for your college future.
Describe the benefits of the current or future course that is being taken, and how they will help your future.
Award Amount: $1,000-$2,000
Award Details:
All Previous, successful scholarship recipients, who are still enrolled in a credited institution, are not required to submit another essay. They are required to re-apply, and complete all of the other steps above, the same as first time applicants, including copy of last year’s transcripts.
