Dr. Teresa D. Drummond Scholarship

Scholarship Overview: Scholarship for Black female high school seniors, current college or trade students, and non-traditional adult learners pursuing higher education.

Scholarship Details:

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Delaware Chapter (NC100BW-DE), advocates on behalf of Black women and girls through national and local actions and strategic alliances that promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment.

Scholarship Eligibility:

  1. Applicants must be a Delaware resident and meet one of the following criteria:
    1. A Black female high school senior who has been accepted into a technical trade, associate, or undergraduate degree program.
    2. A current student enrolled in a technical trade, associate, or undergraduate degree program.
    3. A non-traditional adult student who has experienced a gap in education and is accepted, enrolled, or attending an accredited institution for a technical trade, associate, or undergraduate degree program. Examples include:
      • A GED recipient
      • A working professional returning to school
      • An individual who did not enroll in college immediately after high school graduation

Application Requirements:

  1. A completed scholarship application form.  ​
  2. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and/or academic merit. Applicant must check the box that describes the category for which you are applying:
    • Academic Merit
    • Financial Need and Academic Merit
  3. One (1) letter of recommendation is required. Letters should be no longer than one page and should come from a teacher, counselor, and/or community member who can speak to your academic and/or leadership abilities. Letters should be uploaded with your completed application.
  4. An essay, from one of the topics provided

Essay Details:

Applicants must submit an essay based on one of the provided topics, adhering to the following guidelines. The essay must be a maximum of two pages, typed, double-spaced, and contain at least 750 words. It should demonstrate a clear organizational structure, well-developed ideas, and proper grammar. If references are used, citations must be included. All documents must be named using the format “Lastname_DocumentName” (e.g., Rodgers_Essay).
