McDonald’s Black and Positively Golden Scholarship (TMCF)

Scholarship Overview: Students with a 2.7+ GPA who demonstrate leadership and financial need who will attend an HBCU next fall.

Scholarship Details:

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and McDonald’s are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending TMCF’s member schools that include 57 publicly supported historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), historically Black community colleges (HBCCs), predominantly Black institutions (PBIs), and medical and law schools. In 2021, McDonald’s partnered with TMCF to create the Black & Positively Golden® Scholarship Program. The initiative supports bright young minds headed to the nation’s HBCUs. The B&PG Scholarship Program is the latest example of McDonald’s long-standing commitment to education in Black communities. The company has awarded millions in scholarships over the past decade and is deeply committed to supporting brilliant young minds and brighter futures.

Eligibility Requirements:
  1. Be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate freshman, sophomore, junior or senior attending an HBCU next fall
  2. Current cumulative grade point average of 2.7 or higher
  3. Must be able to demonstrate leadership abilities
  4. Must be able to demonstrate a financial need
  5. Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551

Essay Details:

Answer the following essay question in 100 words:

What values are most important to you for making a positive difference in your community and future career? How will you show those values in school and when working with others?

Award Amount: $15,000

Award Details:

Sixty scholars will be selected to receive a need-based scholarship of up to $15,000 for the 2026-2027 academic year. The total eligible scholarship amount will be allocated in two installments: one during the fall 2026 semester and the second during the spring 2027 semester (which can only be applied to verifiable costs associated with average tuition and usual fees).
